Mike Schroeder
Mike has lived in Truckee full time since 2004. He grew up in the South Bay Area, in the town of Saratoga. Living there for the first 30 years of his life, he kept feeling the call of the mountains and moved full time to the Sierras. He and his partner Craig have owned homes in Discovery Bay, Livermore, Northstar, Tahoe Donner and recently moved to a 10 acre off grid property out near Webber Lake, north of Truckee. They live out there with their Rhodesian Ridgeback Tucker. You might catch him riding to work in the winter on a snowmobile because the eight miles out to civilization is on a road that is not plowed in winter. Growing up in his family’s clothing business, Mike worked from a young age. There he learned a hard work ethic and how important it is to satisfy a customer’s needs. In his twenties, Mike decided he wanted to see what it was like outside the family business and took a job selling cars. He quickly excelled there and moved into management. He ended up as the sales manager of one of the largest Chevrolet dealers in the South Bay Area. In that job Mike learned how to be an excellent manager of employees and became skilled in the art of negotiation.
Mike received a scholarship out of high school and played college football for a couple years at Santa Clara University and went to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo studying political science. He and Craig have been avid rock crawlers and snowmobilers. Over the years they have learned so much about the wonderful backcountry of Tahoe and the Sierras. They enjoy traveling and spending time at home. Both feel blessed to be able to enjoy their little piece of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Thru the years Mike has grown more and more to appreciate Love, his family and friends and the importance of a sense of humor.
